Understanding the Just Tech Fellowship

Beyond the influence of legislators and Big Tech titans, we must look beyond the rapid changes in our world brought about by technology. The Just Tech Fellowship recognizes that communities are home to brilliant people who have created a conducive environment for equitable change, including activists, artists, technologists, and thinkers. The fellowship aims to enable these individuals to carry out their meaningful work by offering an ecosystem of care.

The fellowship aims to redefine the boundaries and possibilities of emerging technologies as society struggles with the effects of historical systemic discrimination. It highlights that attempts to effect structural change should be guided by experience and expertise. The goal of the Just Tech Fellowship and its fellows is to create technological futures that are full of agency, justice, equity, knowledge, and happiness.

Just Tech Advisory Board member Nabiha Syed “The Just Tech Fellowship creates a community of leaders moving from ‘we know this isn’t working for us’ to ‘let’s build something that actually does work for us,'” says The Markup member and president, praising the program. That’s incredible during a period when hope seems a little elusive.
