MITACS Globalink Research Internship in Canada 2024 (Fully funded):

The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive program open to international undergraduate students from a variety of countries and regions, including Australia, India, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. A 12-week study internship in a variety of academic subjects, including the humanities, social sciences, science, engineering, and mathematics, is offered by the course and is supervised by professors from Canadian universities. The course for 2024 is no longer accepting submissions.

Financial Assistance for Undergraduate and Graduate Students at the Canadian Universities Nation The 12-week internship, which runs from May 1 to October 31, 2024, is fully funded. It must begin on September 21, 2023, at 1 PM PT (1:30 AM IST, September 22, 2023), in order to be eligible for entry into Canada on July 31, 2024.

MITACS Globalink Research Internship Eligibility requirements: 

You must be enrolled at one of the recognized institutions.

  • Not less than 18 years of age is required.
  • A passport must be good through January 2025 at the very least.
  • If you are without a valid passport, you are allowed to apply.
  • Apply to a maximum of seven projects, with at least three of the chosen projects coming from different Canadian provinces.

iNote that applicants from India must meet additional requirements: 

  • No citizenship prerequisites
  • Suitable candidates:
  • undergraduates enrolled full-time or in a combined undergraduate master’s program.
  • Master’s program students are not eligible.
  • between June 2025 and July 2026 for graduation
  • All disciplines are eligible.
  • 80 percent is the minimal overall grade point average.
  • Please examine the instructions on how to convert your mark to a percentage on the university website or transcript.
  • Requirement for language proficiency test: No

MITACS Globalink Research Internship Benefits 

The internships at Globalink will include:

MITACS Globalink Research Internship Application method: 

It might take a while for the Mitacs application portal to load at first, so be patient. To register, you must have your password and email address. After logging in, you will be on your application portal. The journey has commenced! I’ll try my best to explain everything, so please follow each step to ensure that you don’t have any issues!

  1. Person Details section: Here, you will be asked to provide details like your home country, date of birth, and full name (spell it exactly as it appears on your passport), among other necessary information.
  2. Section for information on education: This is where you have to fill out details about your current education, like your GPA, university name, and location.
  3. SOP: Give a brief overview of your experience, achievements, and goals for this internship. Include any future plans you may have, such as how this internship will help you grow and whether you want to finish your education in California. Combine all of these elements to produce a truthful story. In a mere 100 words, you have to make your application stand out.
  4. Research Justification: This section allows you to describe your areas of interest in research and how they connect to the projects you have selected. You can also mention whether you have exposure to the industry or experience working as an intern on research-based projects if you have published any work.
  5. Your projects are the most important part of your application. We’ll discuss this topic in greater detail in a later blog post.
  6. Documents: Your resume and transcripts from your university are required. To obtain these, you must apply to your preferred school; this process can take a week, so make sure you obtain them as soon as possible before the application deadline. I had to visit my university during the pandemic in order to obtain one, so please plan appropriately.)

How long will the internship last?

Internships in the summer typically run from 12 to 24 weeks. During this time, interns work closely with host academics on a variety of research topics, gaining practical experience and advancing ongoing programs.
